“This Ain’t AI”? Shenseea Becomes Mantis for Halloween and Fans Refuse to Believe It Is Real (PHOTOS)

Shenseea has won Halloween in Jamaica so far, and she did it by becoming an alien.

The dancehall star posted her Halloween transformation on Thursday, October 29, as Mantis, the Marvel character from Guardians of the Galaxy, according to her own Instagram post. The look is exact: a sleek black bob, prosthetic antennae rising from her forehead, darkened eyes and a skin tight nude bodysuit.

Her caption said it before the comments could. “This ain’t AI….it’s E.T,” she wrote, with the hashtag #MantisHalloween, according to her own post.

In the last photo of the set, her eyes are edited solid black, which only pushed the argument further.

Fans React: real or generated?

The post passed 159,000 likes in its first two days, and a large share of the thread was not about the costume at all. Fans argued over whether the photos were generated, with plenty admitting they thought the pictures were AI until they looked again, according to the comments under her own post.

254News, reporting on the post on October 31, described the same reaction: a transformation realistic enough that fans and entertainment pages stopped to argue about whether it was real.

That argument is the compliment. A Halloween look that makes people question reality has already done its job before a single party starts.

The rollout underneath the costume

The Mantis moment did not land in a quiet week. It landed in the middle of the biggest rollout stretch of Shenseea’s year.

Her new project arrives on November 6, teased through her own Garden posts, according to her own Instagram posts and DancehallMag. In the Garden teaser reel from October 23, she appears in a floral look in Jamaica greenery with the words “GARDEN… on my project releasing NOV 6!”

A second Garden post, a cooking reel from October 25, passed 199,000 likes on its own, according to her own post. The project post itself does not say whether the release is an album or an EP, and Nation is not claiming either.

Why this one cut through

Artists post Halloween costumes every year. Most of them are forgotten by November 2.

This one worked because it was built like a reveal, not a costume photo: a character fans know from the screen, a transformation close enough to argue about, and a caption that turned the argument into the joke.

With the November 6 project six days away, Shenseea now owns the loudest Jamaican entertainment moment of Halloween weekend, and she did it without releasing a note of new music.
