Popcaan was in the room for one of the biggest birthdays in music this week. The dancehall star joined Drake’s private 40th birthday celebrations at Toronto’s CN Tower.

The gathering was reported by XXL on October 23, and it was a small inner circle affair. Drake officially turned 40 on October 24, and Popcaan, long part of the OVO Sound family, was there to mark it.

A bond built on records

The two have traded verses for years. Popcaan appeared on Drake’s 2020 project Dark Lane Demo Tapes, and Drake returned the favour on Popcaan’s “We Caa Done” in 2023.

Why it matters

For Jamaican fans, the moment lands as another chapter in a long friendship between dancehall and one of the biggest names in global music. Popcaan’s presence at the table says as much as any collaboration.

Toronto’s CN Tower lit the night for a milestone birthday, and dancehall was right there in the middle of it.

Popcaan went on to perform with Drake at Lady Delilah in New York on October 24, his first U.S. performance, with the fuller performance story covered on the site.
