Heroes Weekend has a new anchor event. Republic Weekend, in its inaugural staging, is running four days at Plantation Cove in Ocho Rios, from Friday, October 16 to Monday, October 19, 2026, built as a destination weekend of music, beach culture and Carnival energy on Jamaica’s north coast.
Five events, one armband
The weekend packs five distinct events into four days: Fanatic Festival, Rose N Roses, Night Carnival, Republic Beach Club and SSS Republic Bush. One Republic Weekend armband unlocks all five, including a rose-inclusive brunch event, a Road March-inclusive event and a J’Ouvert event, plus live performances and branded memorabilia. Presold armbands were listed at US$255, or J$40,000.
Today, Sunday, October 18, is Day 3, headlined by Republic Beach Club from 12 PM to 6 PM at Plantation Cove. Night Carnival ran Saturday night from 9 PM to 3 AM, and the weekend closes on Heroes Day itself, Monday, October 19, with SSS Republic Bush from 10 AM to 4 PM, a J’Ouvert-style finale of paint, powder, water and foam presented with Secret Soca Society.
Appleton Estate leads the charge
Jamaica Observer reporting, carried by Rastafari News, says Appleton Estate is leading the charge as title partner for the inaugural staging. Dominic Bell, communications manager at Appleton Estate, said the brand’s involvement reflects its enthusiasm for experiences that celebrate Jamaica’s spirit of togetherness.
The organisers frame the weekend around the holiday itself: Heroes Weekend is when Jamaicans honour the seven National Heroes while celebrating the country’s heritage and cultural resilience, and Republic Weekend was crafted to give patrons an immersive north coast getaway across dancehall, Carnival, beach culture, brunch and J’Ouvert-style celebrations.
For Ocho Rios, a brand new four-day festival landing on one of the biggest party weekends of the Jamaican calendar is a statement. The first staging will be judged on whether it earns a permanent place beside the weekend’s established events.
